Marianne van der Meij is a Member in Good Standing of the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council. She graduated from the University of BC, Centre for Intercultural Communication's Immigration Practitioner Certificate Programme, and holds certification as an Interpreter/Translator attained in the Netherlands. She is fluent in Dutch and English, has strong working knowledge of French, German and Kiswahili, and basic knowledge of Spanish.

Marianne is closely familiar with the immigrant experience, having lived in five countries: her native Holland, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Tanzania, and since 1996 Canada. She has extensive experience working with immigrants and refugees in Tanzania, The Netherlands, and Canada.

From 1996 to 2005, Marianne worked at the Victoria Immigrant & Refugee Centre as Coordinator of the Settlement Programme, which at that time served an average 1,200 newcomers per year. She has been on the Board of Directors of the Victoria Coalition for Survivors of Torture since 1996.

Marianne's substantial expertise in the area of Canadian immigration, refugee protection, and citizenship law is further rounded out by her extensive international experience and strong research, language and administrative skills.
